The Vertebral Gate is built entirely from the spine of a colossal beast. Each vertebra carries the same arcane property, and when the bones are fitted together into a towering ring that property passes from one to the next. The creature belonged to one of the vast beast lineages cultivated by the Progenitors. Whatever purpose it served in life, its skeleton remained useful afterward.

For generations, Bokors kept the Gate as a sacred ancestral place. The awakened Progenitors have since restored parts of the structure and opened a passage into a sealed site they call a Brood Vault. Inside are damaged records, preserved remains, and chambers whose purposes remain uncertain. Whatever the Vault contains has drawn a degree of attention from the Progenitors seen nowhere else among their recovered works. A recorded utterance associated with the site speaks of absent primary forms, inheritance persisting in components, and reconstruction remaining viable.
