Something ancient is stirring beneath the Southlands. Drawn from black tar pits by Sekhaton Necromancers, the rulers of a civilisation thought lost to time are walking the world once more. This September, we’re very excited to introduce The Risen Ancestors, our latest addition to the Sekhaton faction.

This collection brings the Progenitors to the tabletop: ancient reptilian beings shaped into specialised castes, each carrying generations of experience within their very flesh. Pursuers, warriors, living bulwarks and minds swollen with ancestral knowledge have returned to find their world buried beneath desert and ruin - and they have every intention of putting things back in order. Let’s take a look.

Miniatures Collection - The Risen Ancestors

Risen Ancestors September 2026 Collection

The Progenitors are a collection built around extreme variation, with each sculpt designed to feel distinct while still clearly belonging to the same faction. From the fast, predatory Progenitor Pursuer and hulking Bastion to the Myrmidon, Cerebrant and Sovereign, the range explores a wide variety of shapes, proportions and battlefield roles. Each miniature brings its own character to the collection, while the shared anatomy and ancient reptilian design language keeps the faction feeling cohesive as a whole.

Alongside the miniatures is the Vertebral Gate, a towering structure assembled from the spine of one of the colossal beasts once cultivated by the Progenitors.

Long treated as a sacred place by the Sekhaton, the Gate has now been partially restored by their awakened Ancestors, opening a passage into the Brood Vault beneath the earth. Whatever survives inside has attracted the Progenitors’ attention more than almost any other relic they have recovered - which probably means sensible adventurers should stay well away from it.

Faction Pack: The Risen Ancestors

As ever, the miniatures are accompanied by a new Faction Guide, bringing together lore, tabletop rules and campaign material for anyone looking to introduce the Risen Ancestors into their games.

This guide explores who the Progenitors are, the civilisation they came from, and what their return means for southern Akhaemia. It delves into their uneasy relationship with the Sekhaton, the ancient works stirring back to life beneath the sands and a people awakening to find the world they once ruled changed almost beyond recognition.

You’ll find 5.5E statblocks for the different units, new lore surrounding the Sekhaton and the awakening of their Ancestors, and adventure hooks designed to bring their return directly into an ongoing campaign. They can appear as isolated horrors dredged from the Southlands, uneasy sources of forgotten knowledge or the first signs of something much larger taking shape beneath the desert.

All our Faction Packs include:

  • Plug-and-play 5e Statblocks.

  • Rich and engaging world and faction lore.

  • Narrative compositions to help you set the scene for your players.

  • Helpful guidance on how to introduce these terrifying new characters into your next or ongoing D&D campaign.

  • Original Concept Art.

With the Progenitors now emerging from the tar pits, we’d love to see what you make of them. If you haven’t joined us already, head over to the Discord, share what you’re working on and get involved - your miniature might be one of the next we feature.

With the Progenitors, September drags something ancient back into the world of Doaden - a civilisation preserved in memory, now awakening to find its empire buried beneath sand, swamp and the lives of those who came after. Their return opens up a strange new corner of southern Akhaemia, filled with forgotten structures, old bloodlines and the uncomfortable sense that some things were buried for a reason.

We hope you enjoy exploring The Risen Ancestors and unleashing them on your table.

As always, thank you for your continued support in helping us bring these nightmares to life.

Cheers,

The Bestiarum Crew
