LORE & BACKGROUND

The caverns are draped in webs of spider silk or sinew, the difference barely distinguishable in the darkness of the caves. In the silk hang the spiders’ cocoons, pale and brittle, each holding a drained husk swaying gently in the gloom. From the sinew hang the Remade’s cocoons, swollen and dark, where corpses soften into pulp before splitting open to release screeching servitors. Below these webs on the cavern floor, spider eggs cluster in cracks and hollows, their damp shells swelling as they strain toward hatching. Together they turn every chamber into a snare, a tangle of silk, sinew, cocoons, and eggs, where something is always ready to stir.
