Infested Monks | Church of the Acarid

LORE & BACKGROUND

Among the earliest victims of the infestation, the monks continued their duties with unsettling calm. Their lives had been shaped by repetition and obedience, and the transition from faith to infestation required little adjustment.

They still sweep floors, trim candles, and whisper fragments of prayer, not from belief but from memory etched into flesh. Within the brood, their usefulness delays their consumption. They tend eggs, clean chambers, and arrange offerings dragged in by other hosts.

This delay is not mercy, only practicality. When hunger grows, they are consumed like any other.

In life they served the Sainted Mother. In death they serve another mother entirely. The difference, to them, is no longer perceptible.
