BACKGROUND

Cage Hounds are savage quadrupedal predators, bristling with rusted spikes, broken chains and cage-like growths fused into their flesh. Hunting in packs reminiscent of wolves, they are amongst the most commonly encountered Collector Entities associated with the Tormentor Cults.

Unlike many Collectors, whose appearances are rare and often tied to significant concentrations of suffering, Cage Hounds seem eager to manifest wherever the cult's influence takes root. Their arrival is often one of the first signs that a cult's activities have begun to escalate beyond ordinary violence and into something far more dangerous.

Though animalistic in behaviour, Cage Hounds possess an unsettling intelligence when pursuing prey. They are relentless hunters, capable of tracking victims across great distances and through difficult terrain. Cultists frequently employ them as guard beasts, hunting animals and living tools of intimidation, unleashing them against escaped prisoners, fleeing sacrifices and anyone unfortunate enough to attract the cult's attention.

Their presence serves another purpose as well. Cage Hounds are drawn instinctively towards suffering, fear and desperation, often appearing wherever these emotions become concentrated. For this reason, cultists regard them as both useful servants and ominous signs that their rites are bearing fruit.

Where Cage Hounds gather in number, greater horrors are rarely far behind.
