Acaridians | Church of the Acarid

LORE & BACKGROUND

Acaridians are not hosts and not parasites, but something born between the two. They emerged when fragments of human habit and belief resisted full erasure, fusing with insectile instinct into a liminal intelligence.

They drift away from the Church and the Broodmare’s influence, moving through deep caverns in quiet processions. They bow to stone formations, arrange bones into patterns, and kneel before empty spaces as though answering half remembered rites.

Acaridians do not think. They interpret. Height feels like reverence. Descent feels necessary. Light becomes a sign. They communicate through motion alone, copying gestures, freezing in unison, or forming geometric arrangements that can last for hours.

When threatened, some scatter while others advance and retreat in choreographed patterns. What drives them is not hunger but yearning, an inherited ache for purpose carried into places where the world grows strange and silent.
