Using Balazar's Dominion for Wargaming | One Page Rules

Greetings, fellow travelers of the dark and chaotic realms crafted by Bestiarum Miniatures. My name is Stephen, though on Discord you'll find me lurking under the name TheEssex. I'm an artist, musician, and lifelong miniature hobbyist with nearly thirty years of experience in the tabletop world. Like many of us, my journey began with Warhammer Fantasy Battle (WFB), 4th Edition to be exact. Since then, I've played every edition of WFB, explored Age of Sigmar, Kings of War, countless skirmish games, and at last found a new home in the realm of mass battle wargaming: One Page Rules (OPR).
I discovered OPR three years ago and was immediately drawn in by its streamlined rules, alternating activations, and the freedom to create truly unique armies. Today, I'm proud to serve as an OPR Ranger, often found most weekends teaching the game at my friendly local game store (Good Games in Oneonta NY!). OPR’s model-agnostic philosophy pairs perfectly with Bestiarum’s monthly releases. Their richly detailed miniatures and lore feed directly into my own army creations especially through OPR’s Age of Fantasy, the system's answer to Age of Sigmar, which is typically played at 1500 points.
The list below features a Havoc Warriors / Lust Disciples army, a fast and brutal strike force inspired by Bestiarum’s recent “Cabal of Languor” drop, with supporting models pulled from earlier Balazar's Dominion sets. It's a thematic blend of art, story, and tabletop carnage, everything I love about the wargaming hobby.
"The watchmen upon the weathered walls of the northern keep heard nothing before death came. No war horns, no clatter of hooves only the shrieks of their brothers as they died in agony, and by then, the walls were already lost. Arrows, black-fletched and whisper-quick, punched through boiled leather and split flesh. The garrison, little more than frightened men with rusted blades, writhed where they fell, moaning prayers for a second volley to grant them release.
Cirxe moved among the corpses like a shadow, untouched and serene. The dying reached for her, but she spared them no glance. Her eyes were fixed on the barn beyond the keep a crumbling structure half-swallowed by fog, its doorway bleeding pale arcane light into the yard. With a motion more suggestion than force, she tore the door from its hinges. Inside, a man knelt on the dirt floor, his body trembling, robed in tatters blackened by time and soot. His skin bore the raised scars of branding symbols burned deep in flesh, twisting in patterns too ancient for any language. Beneath him, carved with a broken blade, was the sigil of her lord: crooked, violent, unfinished. His lips moved, but his words did not matter. The dead speak in many tongues, and all join Jericho’s horn in an endless chorus.
She had answered his summoning. She had brought him his god. Balazar. No longer nameless."

This army draws heavily on the Lust Disciples’ magic, offering a versatile spell list that can buff defense, enhance attacks, or deal direct damage. The two fast-moving Barbarian units, each led by an embedded caster, are ideal for early board control. Deploy them aggressively to seize objectives or threaten key areas of the battlefield.
These Barbarian blocks can be supported by Bliss Archers, who offer flexible utility - either as mobile ranged support or fast-moving chaff capable of contesting early objectives. By Turn 2, the embedded casters should begin using Ecstasy to buff nearby units or Overpower to weaken enemies ahead of a devastating flail charge.
The Pain Warriors form a formidable second wave. They can either support the Barbarian advance or be redirected to eliminate tougher targets that would bog down the front line. The Chosen Lust Master, embedded in one of the elite units, serves as both a force multiplier and a powerful caster, softening up key targets before the charge or enhancing nearby units.
Finally, the Lust Shrine plays a dual role. It should be pushed steadily across the battlefield as both a mobile buffing platform and a shock unit capable of breaking enemy lines when the moment is right.
Thanks for taking a look at the Court of Balazar, I hope it sparks ideas for your own armies. If you’re ever in Oneonta, NY, let’s roll some dice and dive into the world of OPR together!
