Howdy Folks!
With the holiday season in full swing and the year winding down, it’s time to take a look at what’s waiting just around the corner in January. And if you thought the Church of the Acarid had finished making an appearance this year… well, the congregation had other plans.
Up next is a new expansion for this unnerving faction, building directly on its recent release with some additional figures drawn from both the Church and the expanse of tunnels below.
The Prophet and His Many-Legged Flock
This month, we're expanding the Church’s (even) stranger side and introducing a new figure that has a habit of drawing attention: the Acaridian Prophet.
Acaridians are rare oddities within the infestation, and the Prophet is one of them - a presence that makes others behave like something important is happening, whether they understand it or not.
Of course, a prophet is nothing without his following. Alongside the Prophet, we’re bringing in more 'normal' Acaridians as its quiet congregation. These creatures bring some interesting contrast to the typical forms of the Acarid infestation within the faction with their bizarre anatomy.
While we only recently returned to the Church of the Acarid, the development kicked up some exciting ideas that we didn’t have time to explore last time - we think this set will do a great job of rounding out the roster and capping the tale of woe with a truly peculiar mystery.
The Acaridians are only part of what’s coming though - keep an eye out for the full roster later this month which will also include some additional Church units, as well as some more impactful themed terrain.
A Bug's Perspective
With this release, you will be able to more easily include the Acarid into your adventures even outside of the Church's walls.
This month’s updated faction pack expands & improves upon the previous Faction Book, adding new lore focused on the Acaridians, from who they are to how they think and behave when encountered, as well as a bunch of 5e statblocks and, a new experiment - random tables to shape your encounters with this unnerving faction.
Keep an eye out for the full reveal at the end of the month and for the miniature release arriving in January, shortly after the holidays!
