Birgit, the Unfortunate | The Anatomists

LORE & BACKGROUND

Birgit, the Unfortunate is one of the Anatomists’ stranger experiments, a creature left half-finished and poorly understood. She keeps to places where sunlight cannot easily find her. Those who glimpse her often describe seeing an avian creature, not feathered or graceful, but sharp, nervous, and wrong, as if a human life had been bent toward some pale, beaked imitation of nature. A few hooked spikes pierce her body, restraints which were never removed.

Yet Birgit is not a simple monster. She avoids eyes as much as blades, and when cornered, her first instinct is often retreat. Some whisper that she escaped before the Anatomists could complete their work. Others believe they released her deliberately, curious to see what fear would make of her. Whatever the truth, Birgit should be approached with caution, but not hatred. Beneath the horror, something frightened and eerily human may still remain.
