The Patriarch of Wounds | The Anatomists

LORE & BACKGROUND

The Patriarch of Wounds is a relic of horror, feared even by the Anatomists who revere him. Emaciated and towering, he moves with deliberate calm, his parchment-thin flesh barely held by iron sutures and brutal scars. Nailed into his spine is the rusted door of an iron maiden, surrounded by shattered weapons, remnants of failed executions or dark vows. He does not explain their meaning. He does not need to.

His left hand is gone, replaced with a bloom of surgical tools: bone blades, hooks, and needles that dance with terrifying precision. Each incision he makes is purposeful, a record, not an experiment. He is both butcher and healer, an archivist of pain.

Those who survive his slab emerge transformed. His surgeries extend life, but never without cost. Whether sought willingly or dragged in chains, none leave unmarked. The Patriarch is no savior. He is a promise kept: if survival is possible, he will carve the path to it, no matter how cruel.
