The Foundlings are the lost and forgotten children of the slums, shaped first by the grim hand of poverty and then by the wyrd influence of the Kin of the Rat. Their bodies have become strange and grotesque, marked by swollen pot-bellies, beady eyes, and prominent buck teeth. They move with the skittering energy of rats. Wherever they tread, rats swarm around them, perching on their shoulders or trailing at their heels, even the hulking Giant Plague Rats follow like loyal hounds. It is not clear if their twisted forms and affinity with the rodents are the result of their lives within the sewers, or some strange force beyond sight…
Armed with daggers or hurling stones with fearful precision, the Foundlings are vicious protectors of the Kin's hidden burrows. They lash out with feral aggression at those who threaten their family. To confront a Foundling is to confront not just a desperate child, hardened by deprivation and fear, but the fury of a swarm that embodies and obeys their fearful instincts.
