Infested Knights | Church of the Acarid

LORE & BACKGROUND

The Infested Knights were once the sworn guardians of the fallen champion whose relics drew pilgrims to the church. When the brood spread through the nave, their oaths remained, but their forms were hollowed. Parasites swelled beneath their armor, pushing plates outward, twisting human bulk into monstrous silhouettes. Rusting pauldrons bear half-melted candles, still lit as though in endless vigil. Their hollow march echoes down the ruined aisles, a parody of sacred processions.

Though their minds are gone, fragments of ritual linger. They stand in formation without command, pace as if patrolling, and raise weapons in unison with no master to guide them. Their strikes are brutal, driven by alien muscle rather than discipline, but their discipline endures in ghostly echo. They are guardians without faith, protectors without cause, soldiers without souls.

To intruders, they appear like statues come alive, armored shapes shuffling with solemn purpose. But behind their empty eyes, there is nothing human left. They are the husks of vows rewritten into servitude, guardians of a church no longer holy, their processions carried out in silence and infestation.
