Husks | Penitent Crusade

LORE & BACKGROUND

The Husks are the hollowed remnants of heretics and sinners, condemned by the Church Magistrates for crimes against the Azerai Creed. Through cruel surgeries and arcane violations of the spirit, they are stripped of self and purpose, reduced to vacant shells of obedience.

Most are sent to the Empire’s labor pits, working endlessly in mines, fields, and foundries. But in times of war, their role becomes far darker. Armed with crude weapons and given no more than a direction, Husks are cast into battle as living distractions.

They lack the minds to follow strategy or understand fear. Yet it is precisely this mindless frenzy that makes them so dangerous. Their unpredictable charges shatter enemy formations and sow confusion, giving true Crusaders the chance to strike with precision.

Husks are not soldiers, they are warnings. Each one is a symbol of what happens to those who stray from the path, forced to serve in silence, suffering, and shame. They die as they live: nameless, faceless, and forgotten.
