Background

When the Anurans appear in number, the Warriors usually stand out at once, for they lack the Hunters’ patience for concealment. Larger and heavier than their kin, they remain close to the tribe’s grounds, defending and maintaining whatever crude sanctity has been raised there for their Matron. Where the Hunters range outward to feed, the Warriors hold the centre.

Thick-bodied and powerful, they are built not for pursuit but for ending a struggle by sheer force. Their rough weapons and shields of wood and bone are larger than the Hunters’ and meant for crushing blows. They are most dangerous in close quarters, where they press without hesitation and do not tire quickly. Though they do not leap as well, they swim with ease, and in water their bulk is no hindrance.

Most are found at the edges of the sacred ground, standing guard and tending the tribe’s totems.
