While most mortals are cast into the Prison Realm unwillingly, the Tormentor Cultists aspire to tread upon the accursed ground of that infernal plane. Through the culmination of their dark rituals, this opportunity is granted. Stepping into the Hecatomb’s roiling pools of blood, they are drawn into that nightmarish reality, where they are blessed with the maddening majesty of their Lord’s kingdom. While most never return, some are cast back through the Hecatomb, suffused with their master’s energy. These individuals are changed, ascended, becoming beings of both worlds and direct conduits to their master’s predatory will. Though these Ascendants are capable of communication, their remaining spark of mortal essence is
trapped within a labyrinth of madness, borne from witnessing eons of dark secrets and terrible suffering within the Prison Realm. Consorting with these beings risks a similar fate.
