The Lore

Since the dawn of time, the denizens of Doaden have worshiped nature in its multitude of forms. Manifested through ancient rites and devotion, these Aspects of the Wild were said to preserve the land’s balance for time immemorial - a balance that was uprooted in the wake of the devastating Cataclysm.

The fallout of corrupt arcane energies seeped into the world’s essence, irrevocably tainting the natural order. Many who once served primeval nature perished, and those who remained were left weakened and vulnerable. In this desecrated world, perverted idols now draw ever more followers, claiming the vacant spaces of those who came before. Bleating calls from the darkest woods, resonant horns in the night, and mysterious afflictions sweeping the land, all are symptoms of the cancer that has stricken our world.

Whispers speak of ancient beings roaming the most remote corners of the wilderness, enraged and embittered, lashing out at any who trespass upon their domains. Such tales are often accompanied by unearthly phenomena - nature itself coming to life, unleashing its vengeful fury. Whether these are the lost Primordial Spirits of Doaden, withered projections of their former selves desperately clinging to their place in this ill-altered world, remains unknown. The Church works tirelessly to expunge the Old Wisdoms wherever they linger, ensuring such truths remain obscured.

Yet some still defy the Church. Commoners in the most remote settlements speak of hidden druidic circles performing rituals in secret, seeking to restore the natural order. The pagan ceremonies of the Northerners of Thule and the Beastmen tribes follow these ancient traditions, a thorn in the side of the Church’s singular vision for mankind.
