LORE & BACKGROUND

Ingo is the loyal squire of Ser Hadric, and perhaps the most devoted remnant of House Starling’s fading legacy. While Hadric embodies the pride and ceremony of a knight who refuses to accept the end of his station, Ingo bears the practical burden of keeping that illusion alive. Armour, packs, battered gear, and half-mended banners all rest on his shoulders as the two wander the Empire in search of work.

It is usually Ingo who arrives first. He stumbles into each village square to sound his horn and proclaim the coming of Ser Hadric of House Starling, a noble knight ready to render aid and perform deeds of chivalric worth. There is something tragic in the ritual, but also something sincere. Ingo does not simply serve from habit. He preserves what remains of his master’s dignity through persistence, effort, and belief.

Though little is said of him apart from his service, that service defines him completely. Ingo is herald, burden-bearer, and witness to a glory that has long since decayed. In another age he might have stood in the shadow of greatness. In this one, he helps carry its tattered remains from one muddy road to the next.
