LORE & BACKGROUND

Equal parts siege engine and bio-alchemical construct, the Haemonculid Bombard is among the most devastating tools wielded by the Alchemic Order. Towering and hunchbacked, its chassis fuses sculpted bronze with taut, bred muscle. A sun-rimmed mortar protrudes from its back, etched with functional glyphs of ignition and trajectory. It walks on two powerful arms while a vestigial torso dangles beneath the cannon, its purpose long debated.

The cannon’s heart is a volatile crucible, its contents kept in endless chemical flux. Cherubic Haemonculi scurry with bloated limbs, hand-feeding bottles of reagents into the mix: corrosives, mists, incendiaries, each chosen for its precise, destructive outcome. When launched, these projectiles arc overhead with a screeching whine, delivering devastation in fire, gas, or bile.

The Bombard itself is not autonomous. It requires the command of a Siegemaster, who guides its targeting and chemical loading through direct supervision or arcane tether. Without this control, its instincts degrade, and its volatile nature overtakes its discipline.

Many warlords have learned this too late. In betrayal, they have slain the alchemist, hoping to steal the machine. The result was always the same: indiscriminate annihilation. Among the Order, the Bombard is treated with both reverence and fear. It is a servant of war, but never a slave.
