LORE & BACKGROUND

The Expedition Marshal is selected from the ranks of Field Marshals back in the Empire. The Church presents the appointment as a holy cause, but many are chosen because the Church considers them a risk at home: too influential, too popular in the wrong circles, marked by a critical mistake, or blamed for a mundane failure outside their control.

Even so, the Marshal sent is expected to be fiercely loyal to the Azerai Creed. The mission is considered critical, and the Marshal is judged on results rather than reputation. At the expedition’s foothold, leadership is essential to keep people fed, moving, and under control while the jungle, sickness, and despair do their best to unravel the camp.

As with all Field Marshals, the Expedition Marshal is a skilled warrior and expert leader, overcoming challenges with a combination of martial skill and sharpened tactical mind. The Marshal holds discipline in a place where fear, sickness, and resentment spread fast, and is often the sole difference between an organized expedition and a panicked rout.
