The Margravine bears a great many titles, none of which quite capture her terrible beauty and capricious nature. She embodies the avian essence of her kind, ruling her flock with a tender yet unyielding talon. Far more intelligent than her primitive kin, the Margravine’s chief concern is the survival of her brood. It is her sharp mind that leads the harpies to new nesting grounds when food runs low or greater dangers loom, sometimes driving her flock thousands of leagues along the fringes of the Akhaemian Desert.
While most harpies can communicate in crude, fragmented speech, their chaotic nature makes true understanding difficult. The Margravine, however, is an exception—her supreme intellect and iron control set her apart. Many factions around Akhaemia have sought her counsel, with mixed results. Balazar’s armies, for instance, have long enjoyed safe passage through harpy territory, allowing them to launch daring raids on Azerai’s desert outposts.
