LORE & BACKGROUND

Ser Hadric is the sworn sword of fallen House Starling, a minor lineage that barely warranted remembrance even before its decline. When Duchess Starling succumbed to her strange and creeping curse, neighbouring lords claimed her lands with little protest and less ceremony. Hadric was left untethered from house, lady, and any place in the world that still had need of him.

Too proud, or too broken, to bend the knee to another lord, he became a hedge knight. He still speaks of duty, still clings to the rites of chivalry, and still honours a duchess who no longer exists to receive that loyalty. He is haughty, quick to take offence, and unable to fully accept what he has become.

Yet for all his pride, Hadric has not abandoned the road. He wanders from settlement to settlement offering aid, honour, and knightly service for a fee, because even a faded ideal must eat. There is both dignity and sadness in him, a man trying to preserve the shape of old nobility in a world that no longer respects it. What remains of House Starling now survives mostly in Hadric’s posture, temper, and refusal to let it vanish quietly.
